Dr Julian Tudor Hart

Dr Julian Tudor Hart

It is with great sadness and a sense of deep loss that we note the passing of Dr Julian Tudor Hart.

Julian was a life long member of the Socialist  Health Association  and, for many years, its distinguished President.  He was a passionate advocate and campaigner for the National Health Service. He strongly believed that a fairer and more caring society would also be a healthier one.

By his writing, research, and consistent personal example, Julian taught so much to so many.

Working as a GP in the former mining village of Glyncorrwg Julian, with the support of Mary,  made a massive contribution to the development of primary health care and public health medicine. His research, clinical practice, caring approach for patients, and concern for the wider community which he served, helped to shape health care policy on a global scale.

His legacy will endure and inspire all who have the privilege of being the custodians of the NHS.

Our thoughts are with his family at this time.
